Nigerian cyclist heading to U.S. on bicycle arrives in Ghana

A Nigerian cyclist, Emmanuel Myam, widely known as Emmiwuks, has reached Ghana in his daring attempt to travel from Lagos, Nigeria, to the United States—using only his bicycle.
Setting off on July 1, Emmiwuks has so far journeyed across three West African countries—Benin Republic, Togo, and now Ghana—in just ten days.
His trip, which is both personal and humanitarian, has captured the attention of many across the continent.
Originally from Benue State, Emmiwuks first made headlines in 2022 when he cycled from Makurdi to Lagos to meet Afrobeats star Davido. That early feat was inspired by his love for adventure and a passion to push limits.
However, his current journey is driven by deeper motivation. According to him, a difficult phase in life and a near-death experience in 2023 became the turning point that birthed his dream to cycle from Nigeria to the U.S.
More than a physical challenge, Emmiwuks’ mission carries a cause: to raise awareness and support for orphaned and displaced children across Africa, especially those affected by conflict and instability.
On Wednesday, he announced his arrival in Ghana through his Instagram page, sharing photos and a message of hope.
“Day 10. Project NIG2USA. Welcome to Ghana—the land of warmth, rhythm, and strength,” he wrote. “A new country, a new chapter, same mission—raising a voice for the displaced and the forgotten.”
He ended his post with a powerful message of unity and resilience: “Ghana, let’s ride this journey together. From Nigeria to the world, the movement is alive. Naija no dey carry last.”
