PSG demolish Real Madrid to set up CWC final showdown with Chelsea

Paris Saint-Germain thumped Real Madrid with a 4-0 win in the FIFA Club World Cup semi-final on Wednesday, booking their place in Sunday’s final against Chelsea in New Jersey.

Fabian Ruiz and Ousmane Dembele led the charge for the European champions, with the former bagging a brace and the latter scoring one and assisting another in a dominant display at MetLife Stadium.

PSG wasted no time asserting control. Ruiz opened the scoring in the 6th minute after Dembele dispossessed Raul Asencio and squared it for a tap-in.

Just three minutes later, Dembele doubled the lead himself, pouncing on a loose touch from Antonio Rudiger and slotting past Thibaut Courtois.

Luis Enrique’s men were relentless, slicing through Madrid’s midfield and backline with ease.

On 27 minutes, Achraf Hakimi laid off a precise pass for Ruiz to notch his second and PSG’s third, leaving Real Madrid shell-shocked before the half-hour mark.

Although Khvicha Kvaratskhelia missed a gilt-edged chance to add a fourth before halftime, PSG’s dominance never waned.

The French giants eased into game management mode after the break, controlling possession and limiting Madrid’s opportunities.

The final blow came in the 82nd minute when substitute Goncalo Ramos finished off a slick move orchestrated by Bradley Barcola, rounding off a performance that arguably shows PSG’s credentials as world champions-in-waiting.

PSG will now face Chelsea, who defeated Fluminense 2-0 in the other semi-final, in a heavyweight clash for the revamped Club World Cup title.
