Chelsea to wear gold FIFA badge for four years after CWC win over PSG

Chelsea will wear the prestigious gold FIFA Champions badge for the next four years following their emphatic 3-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the final of the newly revamped Club World Cup on Sunday.
The Blues secured the title at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey thanks to a standout first-half performance led by Cole Palmer, who netted twice before assisting Joao Pedro for a classy third goal.
The victory not only earned Chelsea the newly designed trophy and £100 million in prize money but also marked them as the inaugural winners of FIFA’s new four-year tournament cycle.
As part of this rebrand, FIFA president Gianni Infantino confirmed that winners of the updated Club World Cup will now retain the gold badge on their kits for the full duration between tournaments, four years, rather than the previous one-year entitlement.
This represents a significant shift from the treatment of past winners. Notably, Liverpool, after lifting the trophy in 2019, were only permitted to wear the badge in one Premier League fixture due to domestic kit regulations.
Those restrictions have since been relaxed, allowing Chelsea to showcase their global champion status in all competitions.
