PDP Anambra gover’ship candidate Jude Ezenwafor shot in Abuja

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for the 2025 Anambra State election, Chief Jude Ezenwafor, has been shot by unknown gunmen in Abuja.

Ezenwafor was reportedly attacked on Friday night in the Wuse 2 area of the Federal Capital Territory while returning from a private appointment. He is currently hospitalized at an undisclosed medical facility, where he is receiving emergency treatment.

Speaking from his hospital bed in the early hours of Saturday, the visibly shaken candidate described the attack as a near-death experience.

“I’m currently in the hospital. The doctors are making efforts to operate me so that they can pull out bullets from my body,” he said faintly.

Details surrounding the shooting remain unclear, but members of his media team confirmed that he sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was rushed to the emergency unit shortly after the incident.

Security agencies have yet to release an official statement, though a source close to the PDP campaign team disclosed that the attack has been reported to the police, and an investigation is ongoing.

Ezenwafor, a former presidential aspirant under the Labour Party, recently returned to the PDP and emerged as its flagbearer for the upcoming Anambra governorship election scheduled for later this year.
