TikToker sentenced to one year in prison for bathing on road in women’s underwear

A popular TikToker, Umar Hashim, also known as Tsulange, has been sentenced to one year in prison by a Magistrate Court in Kano State for bathing on a public road while wearing women’s underwear.

The court, sitting at Gyadi Gyadi and presided over by Magistrate Hadiza Muhammad Hassan, delivered the ruling in a case filed by the Kano State Censorship Board.

Hashim was found guilty of public misconduct after a video of his comedy skit showing the act went viral, drawing criticism for violating standards of public decency.

The court ruled that the sentence could be commuted to a fine of ₦80,000.

In addition, Hashim was ordered to pay ₦20,000 to the Censorship Board to cover the costs of investigation and prosecution.

Hashim was arrested in June 2025 following the release of the controversial video.

The court emphasized that the ruling aims to uphold morality laws and discourage behavior deemed inappropriate in public spaces.
